Course Description

In The Story of Jesus Continues online course, professor and scholar Douglas Huffman takes students through different introductory and interpretive issues in the study of Acts, including the genre, purpose, history, culture, and geographical setting of the story.

Equipped with these fascinating details, in broad strokes, each unit traces Luke's well-told recounting of the ongoing story of Jesus. Videos offer short, engaging overviews of different panels in the book of Acts, helping students understand the world of the early church and Luke’s organizational structure. Reading portions of the course include unique photographs, maps, and sidebars about history, ancient literature, and archaeological finds. Sensitive to the purposes Luke had for his text—as well as its connection to the Gospel of Luke—Huffman concludes by noting how the Jesus story is intended to continue into the present. Each unit ends with a practical challenge for students and the church to better continue the story of Jesus today.

Douglas S. Huffman is associate dean of biblical and theological studies and professor of New Testament at Talbot School of Theology, Biola University. He is the author of Verbal Aspect Theory and the Prohibitions in the Greek New Testament and The Handy Guide for New Testament Greek.
