Course Description

Theology answers the biggest questions about God, humanity, the church, the world, and the world to come—and more. Yet it can be confusing to study.

This track provides you with a series of courses that will introduce you to theology. You’ll explore the key doctrines of the church with Scripture as your starting point. From there, you’ll follow each doctrine through the church’s history, and examined how Christians in other times and places have helped formulate and shape our own beliefs. You will also explore theology from global perspectives and get an introduction to contemporary movements, such as process theology, liberation theology, open theism, and more.

You will learn:

  • The main doctrines of the church and the scriptural basis for each
  • The central themes of the Gospel, including Jesus, salvation, the Holy Spirit, the church, and end times
  • How Christian doctrine developed over time, including the key theologians and significant discussions
  • The theological disagreements in the church’s history and how they have separated the church into modern branches and denominations
  • How modern evangelicalism has developed—what evangelicals believe and why they believe it
  • How global theology has shifted and changed during the twentieth century
  • The most significant contemporary theological movements, such as process theology, liberation theology, open theism, and more
