Course Description

The Bible uses the term “Word of God” in several different ways. This Word of God course, taught by Wayne Grudem, first explores various meanings of the phrase, which among other uses can refer to Jesus himself, God’s messages delivered by prophets, and the Bible. It then investigates those books that the church has traditionally considered to be a part of the written Word of God, the Bible.

The key questions answered by this course are:

  • What are the different forms of the Word of God?
  • What belongs in the Bible?
  • What does not belong in the Bible?
  • How can we know the Bible is God’s Word?
  • Are there any errors in the Bible?

Derived from the larger Systematic Theology 1 course, Introduction to the Bible is an excellent first step into the study of biblical doctrine.

Wayne Grudem is research professor of theology and biblical studies at Phoenix Seminary in Phoenix, Arizona. He taught at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School for 20 years. He has also served as the president of the Council on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood and president of the Evangelical Theological Society. He holds degrees from Harvard (AB), Westminster Theological Seminary (MDiv, DD), and Cambridge (PhD). He is the author of more than 100 academic articles and over a dozen books, including the bestselling Systematic Theology.
