Paul’s letters form a significant part of the New Testament. His ministry and travels catalyzed a movement throughout the Roman Empire. And his theological message continues to shape the church today. He was—and still is—a vital force in the development of Christianity.
This track will introduce you to the world of Paul—his Jewish background and his Greco-Roman context, his travels, and the churches he founded. It will also introduce you to his writings through careful analysis of Romans, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, and 2 Corinthians. Finally, you’ll explore the varying perspectives on Paul and discover insights for understanding Paul in today’s culture.

Thomas R. Schreiner is James Buchanan Harrison Professor of New Testament and associate dean of Scripture and interpretation at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. The author of numerous books, he is the preaching pastor of Clifton Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky.

Todd Still serves as the dean of the George W. Truett Theological Seminary of Baylor University in Waco, Texas. In addition to having written Colossians for the revised edition of The Expositor's Bible Commentary, Dr. Still is the author of Conflict at Thessalonica as well as Philippians & Philemon. He is also the (co-) editor of several volumes (including Jesus and Paul Reconnected, After the First Urban Christians, and Tertullian and Paul) and has published articles in such scholarly journals as New Testament Studies, Journal of Biblical Literature, and Catholic Biblical Quarterly.

Lynn H. Cohick is the provost and dean of academic affairs at Northern Seminary. Lynn has written Philippians in the Story of God Bible Commentary and Ephesians in the New Covenant Commentary, as well as Women in the World of the Earliest Christians. She explores early Jewish/Christian relations in her book, Melito of Sardis: Setting, Purpose, and Sources, and in several articles on women in Early Judaism and earliest Christianity.

Luke Timothy Johnson is Candler School of Theology’s Robert W. Woodruff Professor Emeritus at Emory University. His research concerns the literary, moral and religious dimensions of the New Testament, including the Jewish and Greco-Roman contexts of early Christianity (particularly moral discourse), Luke-Acts, the Pastoral Letters, and the Letter of James. Johnson has penned 31 books, more than 70 scholarly articles, 100 popular articles and nearly 200 book reviews.
