Know How We Got Our Bible
The easy accessibility of the Bible in most of the world’s major languages can obscure a dramatic and sometimes unexpected story.
In this course, you’ll learn the history of the Bible from its beginnings to the present day. Along the way, you’ll encounter key figures in the Bible’s history, and come to understand why Scripture is reliable.
First, you’ll start by learning when the books of the Bible were written and who wrote them.
Next, you’ll discover how the Old and New Testaments were formed, including the early transmission of the manuscripts and the development of the canon.
Finally, you’ll learn about the history of Bible translation, from the Latin Vulgate through the ongoing work of translation around the world today.
This is an accessible course focused on the overarching story of how the Bible came to us today. It’s an excellent introduction for both formal students and lay learners.
